Why companies hire a forward deployed engineer

The product does not fit the customer yet

Every enterprise account has its own workflow, data, and constraints. Someone has to translate that into working software without waiting for the next roadmap cycle.

AI demos do not survive real data

A prototype that works in a notebook breaks on messy inputs, permissions, and edge cases. Getting it into production is engineering, not prompting.

Requirements get lost between teams

Sales promises, product prioritizes, engineering builds something else. A technical owner close to the customer closes that loop.
